A Spring Table Setting with Everyday Objects

In my mind, bright and happy colors have a strong connection with spring. Anything that brings me out of the blue and puts a smile on my face deserves a special place on my dining table. Now that we all are officially in the blooming season, I decided to create a colorful table setting that can be used for Easter and during spring (just take out the bunnies!).

The fun thing about this setting (besides the shopping trip at HomeGoods) is using common objects, but with a twist in their application. A glass bottle for water is now filled with juice. Not only does it look better than its carton cousin, but it adds to the table setting by letting us see the color of what’s inside (orange juice anyone?). Also, a metal vintage cup (found while thrifting) now contains the silverware, while a small glass cake stand holds bread slices. The duality of common objects never ceases to surprise me; all I have to do is think out of the box!

At HomeGoods, I found two types of plates (for salad and bread), but instead of using them for serving, I placed them as decorative elements over my white (and very boring) dishes. Adding the fabric napkins in between gave this whole look another dimension.

Small shot glasses (also from HomeGoods) were used as mini floral vases to decorate the table. I also found a set of Mason Jar cups that can be personalized, too. I added a strip of twine around the neck of each cup to make them more whimsical.

A couple of flowers in my favorite HomeGoods find, the porcelain pitcher, made this setting a more cheerful one. You can check out my tutorial on how to use tape to prepare this floral arrangement on my blog, I Don’t Know How She Does It.

Do you love decorating with colors? What colors are your favorite ones for spring?
