I love to decorate shelves and I am constantly adding them all over our home. Sometimes I make them out of pine or plywood and other times I simply buy inexpensive ready-made shelves. Shelves add character and texture to any space and the best part is you can decorate them each season.
We recently transformed our old 1970s style bathroom and created a modern day, spa-like bathroom, which included these fabulous glass shelves hung with bingo brackets. I love decorating these shelves as the seasons change and for spring, the addition of a cute faux plant incorporates color and vibrance to the shelf. Clear glass or plastic containers are also great for storing bath soaps and small toiletries. One of my most favorite decorating tips is to “lean” a photo against the wall on a shelf. It’s a quick and easy way to add visual appeal and height.

Our pool house got a fun makeover, shown below. I hung this shelf with hooks on a blank wall. It was a HomeGoods find and serves as a spot for hanging towels and bathing suits. The small planters filled with faux boxwood look adorable on the shelf.

Jennifer at Town and Country Living decided that a few new white ironstone pitchers were a must for her spring shelf. She is right — crisp, white ironstone is perfect for the upcoming warmer months.

Shelly over at House of Smiths added two layers of shelves in her kitchen, along with a framed wooden piece to accent the wreath. I love this! A mixture of greenery, florals, dishware and leaning artwork make this kitchen wall look alive!

If you do not have a shelf, don’t worry! You can buy them anywhere for minimal money or, if you are feeling brave, make one out of wood. Find a wall, a space above a dresser or a desk that needs some attention and try adding a shelf. You will love changing out the decor with each season!
